Recovery Works Healing Center's IOP is meticulously designed to cater to the unique needs of each client

Benefits of Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive Outpatient Programs serve as a vital bridge between inpatient treatment and independent living, offering several key advantages:

Flexibility and Accessibility

IOPs provide structured treatment sessions multiple times per week, typically during daytime or evening hours. This scheduling allows clients to continue with work, education, or family commitments while receiving consistent therapeutic support.

Comprehensive Care

These programs encompass a range of therapeutic modalities, including individual counseling, group therapy, and educational sessions. This holistic approach addresses the multifaceted nature of addiction and mental health, promoting overall well-being.

Community Support

Participating in group therapy sessions fosters a sense of community and belonging among clients. Sharing experiences and coping strategies with peers who understand the challenges of recovery can be incredibly validating and motivating.

Cost-Effectiveness

Compared to inpatient treatment, IOPs are generally more affordable, making quality care accessible to a broader population.

Skill Development

Clients learn practical skills for relapse prevention, stress management, and coping mechanisms that can be immediately applied in real-life situations.

Looking for Suboxone or Vivitrol?

MAT at Recovery Works is part of our outpatient treatment programs and includes counseling.

Start Your Recovery

IOP is often the right fit when you need more than a weekly counseling appointment but don’t need 24-hour care. It works well as a first step for many people. It also works as a step down after detox, residential treatment, or a partial hospitalization program. We accept all Ohio Medicaid plans and many commercial insurance plans.

How Our IOP Works

How Many Hours a Week Is IOP?

Our IOP includes three 3-hour group sessions each week, for about 9 hours of group therapy. You'll also have regular individual counseling sessions. Case management and MAT appointments are scheduled as needed.

How Long Does IOP Last?

Most clients complete IOP in 12 to 16 weeks, depending on progress. When you're ready, you can step down to our Non-Intensive Outpatient Program (NIOP). NIOP meets twice a week for 2-hour groups.

Morning and Evening IOP

Recovery shouldn't cost you your job. We offer morning and evening group options. You can choose the schedule that works for your work and family. Telehealth sessions may also be available for some services.

What’s Included

  • Group therapy: facilitated by credentialed and licensed staff, focused on coping skills, relapse prevention, and peer support

  • Individual counseling: one-on-one sessions with a licensed counselor

  • Evidence-based therapies: including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing

  • Dual diagnosis care: for co-occurring depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and more

  • Medication-assisted treatment: Suboxone (buprenorphine) and Vivitrol (naltrexone) when clinically appropriate

  • Case management: help with housing, employment, medical care, and community resources

  • Crisis intervention: short-term support when you need it most

Who Is IOP Right For?

IOP may be a good fit if you:

  • Are struggling with alcohol, opioids, meth, cocaine, or other substances
  • Have a stable, safe place to live, or are living in recovery housing
  • Don’t need medical detox, or have already completed it
  • Need to keep working, going to school, or caring for family
  • Are stepping down from inpatient, residential, or PHP care
  • Want more support than weekly therapy alone

If you’ve been drinking heavily every day, or using benzodiazepines, withdrawal can be medically dangerous. Talk with our team first. We’ll help you find safe detox before starting IOP.

Professional and Caring

Our time with Recovery Works has been wonderful. Everyone we ever interacted with was very professional and caring. Our family had been in a state of crisis when we came in for help and they worked with us and helped us in our time of need. The individual therapy sessions were so good for our son and we were so pleased with his therapist, Jessica. Programs for teenagers/young adults are very hard to come by but Recovery Works offered exactly what we needed. I will always recommend them for anyone who is ever in need of services. Thank you, RWHC, for working with our family.
