Partial Hospitalization Program in Dayton, Ohio
Our Most Intensive Outpatient Level of Care
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) gives you the structure and clinical support of a full treatment day, and then you go home at night. It’s designed for people who need more help than a few sessions a week can provide, but don’t need 24-hour residential or inpatient care.
At Recovery Works Healing Center, our PHP includes group therapy, individual counseling, psychiatric care, and medication-assisted treatment when appropriate.
What Is PHP Treatment?
PHP is sometimes called “day treatment.” You attend programming for most of the day, on most weekdays, in a structured clinical setting. Evenings and nights are spent at home or in recovery housing.
PHP is a step below residential treatment and a step above an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Many people start in PHP and then step down to IOP as they stabilize.
How Long Is PHP Treatment?
The length of PHP depends on your progress. Many people attend PHP, then step down to IOP and later to outpatient care. Your treatment team will review your progress regularly and recommend when you’re ready to transition.
PHP for Addiction Treatment
Our PHP for addiction treatment helps you build a strong foundation early in recovery, when relapse risk is highest. Programming may include:
- Daily group therapy focused on relapse prevention, coping skills, and emotional regulation
- Individual counseling
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing
- Medication-assisted treatment with Suboxone or Vivitrol
- Case management
- Education about addiction and recovery
PHP for Mental Health in Dayton
Our mental health PHP supports adults experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and other conditions that need more intensive support than weekly therapy. For people facing both mental health and substance use challenges, PHP includes dual diagnosis care.
Who Is PHP Right For?
PHP may be a good fit if you:
- Have completed detox or residential treatment and need a step down with strong support
- Have tried IOP and need more structure
- Are at high risk of relapse
- Are experiencing co-occurring mental health symptoms that need close monitoring
- Have a safe place to stay at night
PHP is not a substitute for medical detox or crisis care. If you’re experiencing severe withdrawal, or you’re in danger, call 911 or 988.
